Montague Myers Scholarship

Overview
The Montague Myers Scholarship was created in 1996 to honor Montague Myers, a Kalamazoo-based interior designer and member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The fund is intended for individuals who endured significant childhood hardships and who are seeking to continue their education—whether academic or vocational—to move beyond those early challenges.
Eligibility
- Enrollment status: Full-time or part-time students are eligible.
- Programs/credentials: Awards may support associate (2-year) programs, bachelor’s (4-year) degrees, graduate degrees, or vocational/trade certifications.
- Applicant types: Current undergraduate students, current graduate students, and high school seniors may apply.
- Required conditions:
- Must live in Kalamazoo County or be graduating from (or have graduated from) a Kalamazoo County high school.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must have experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect during childhood.
How the Award May Be Used and Disbursement
- Funds may be used for any items included in your school’s Cost of Attendance (COA). COA components vary by institution but commonly include tuition, fees, room and board, transportation, food, health insurance, and similar education-related expenses. Check your school’s financial aid office or website for your specific COA.
- Scholarship payments are sent directly to the recipient’s school. KZCF issues one check covering the full academic year and requests the institution split those funds evenly between the fall and spring terms. If you prefer a different distribution, you may indicate that preference on your acceptance form after you receive an award.
- This is a renewable/multiyear scholarship and may be awarded up to four consecutive years. Award funds may be combined with other scholarships and financial aid; no additional action is required once the funds are transmitted to your institution.
