Submit applications by March 1, 2026. Introduction The Illinois AMVETS and the Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation have a long history of supporting veterans through education awards. The Veterans Scholarship program was created to help Illinois veterans pursue postsecondary training and to offset education-related costs. Eligibility - Must be a veteran with a permanent Illinois address. - Must have been honorably discharged. - Must be enrolled part-time or full-time at an accredited 2‑year or 4‑year college/university, or at a vocational/technical school. Award details - Awards vary each year depending on available funding. - Individual awards are up to $2,000. - Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books, housing, school fees, and other education-related expenses. How to apply - The online application is posted at www.ilamvets.org. - The application window runs November 1 through March 1; to be considered for the 2025–2026 cycle, applications must be received by March 1, 2026. - Candidates are evaluated on financial need and merit. Finalists will be asked to provide additional documentation to confirm eligibility. Selection and disbursement - Only selected recipients will be notified. If you do not receive notification, you are encouraged to apply again next year. - Funds will be issued no later than July 31 and are normally sent directly to the educational institution unless an alternate arrangement is approved by request.
