Hancock County FB Scholarships

Overview
This scholarship program supports students pursuing college studies in agriculture, agribusiness, or closely related fields, as well as applicants who come from agricultural backgrounds or have a demonstrated interest in agriculture. Awards are based on outstanding academic achievement, engagement with agriculture, and/or demonstrated financial need. Three scholarships of $2,000 each will be granted.
Eligibility
- Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply.
- Applicants must be one of the following at the time of application: a high school senior, a high school graduate, or a current college student.
- Must be an Illinois resident.
- Must be a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau or a dependent of a member when applying.
- Must show the potential to successfully complete their chosen course of study.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship decisions will consider:
- Academic record and honors, including class rank.
- Evidence of interest and involvement in agriculture or agribusiness.
- Participation in an interview with the review board (interviews will be scheduled after applications are received).
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Evidence of self-help — how the student is contributing toward their education financially.
- Personal qualities such as maturity, motivation, intellectual curiosity, moral character, and leadership.
Application Materials and Submission
Required with your application:
- A digital headshot of the applicant (this may be used in promotional materials). Email the photo to hcfbmanager@gmail.com.
- An official academic transcript. Mail transcripts to: Hancock County Farm Bureau, 544 Wabash Ave, Carthage, IL 62321.
Notes
Applications that do not include the required photo and official transcript may be considered incomplete. Interviews will be arranged by the review board after an application has been received.
