Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans

Introduction
The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans (JCCIA), through the Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship Fund, awards scholarships to students of Italian heritage who show financial need and strong academic achievement.

Eligibility
- Must be of Italian extraction.
- Must be a resident of the State of Illinois.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must show high academic achievement.
- Must be admitted to or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education and provide proof of admission/enrollment.

Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen based on Italian heritage, demonstrated financial need, academic merit, the quality of a required essay (500 words or fewer) explaining how the Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship will support the applicant’s personal and professional goals, and the overall quality of the completed JCCIA Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship application. Applications are reviewed by the JCCIA Scholarship Committee.

Award Amount
A one-time scholarship award may be granted for up to $5,000.

How to Apply
- Complete the JCCIA Frank J. Vigilante scholarship application (available on the JCCIA website).
- Include any additional documentation requested on the application.
- Combine the completed application and all supporting documents into a single PDF file and submit electronically to jcc@jccia.com. Applications submitted in multiple files or not as a single PDF may be denied.

Deadlines and Notification
- Application window: June 1, 2024 through November 1, 2024. Applications and all required documentation must be submitted within this period to be considered.
- Award notifications will be issued by December 1, 2024.

Award Presentation
Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the JCCIA December Christmas Party for the official presentation of the award.
