Introduction
The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) will award a $3,750 scholarship to selected graduate and Ph.D. students. Scholarship recipients will be invited to a career-focused trip in Cincinnati, OH, taking place May 10–13, 2026. The experience includes a welcome dinner with a keynote speaker, three days of career-development and professional workshops, and a scholarship & donor recognition reception.
Who should apply
Graduate and doctoral students who meet the criteria below and submit a complete online application will be considered for this award.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
- Enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited U.S. institution (minimum course load of 9 units per semester/quarter).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. (If your GPA is below 3.2, see the application checklist for instructions.)
- Major or program of study must emphasize advertising, marketing, or public relations.
- Must have at least two academic semesters (or one full academic year) remaining in your master’s program as of the scholarship award date in May 2026. Summer terms do not count toward this requirement.
- Availability to attend all TLF scholarship activities in May 2026 is mandatory. If selected, you must participate in the activities listed above to receive the scholarship.
- Recipients are required to commit to one year of ongoing contact with TLF for professional mentoring and academic support.
Application preparation and submission
- Combine all application materials into a single PDF file before uploading. Applications that are not combined into one PDF will not be accepted.
- The application must be typed.
Required application materials
The application packet must include the completed application form and the following documents (essay responses should each be on their own page):
- Essay (1 page): Describe your career goals and the steps you will take to reach them.
- Diversity statement (short response): Explain why increasing representation of underrepresented groups in advertising, marketing, and public relations matters to you.
- Activities paragraph: Briefly summarize your campus and/or community involvement.
- Honors paragraph: Briefly list and describe any awards or honors you have received.
- One signed reference letter on official letterhead from a college professor or an internship supervisor.
- Current resume.
- Unofficial college/university transcripts. (Finalists will be required to submit official transcripts. If you are about to start your program, an acceptance letter may be submitted in place of transcripts.)
- A headshot photo of the applicant.
Optional
- If you believe your GPA does not reflect your true academic ability, you may include an optional explanatory essay (up to one page) describing the circumstances.
Reminder
All materials must be assembled into a single PDF and uploaded via the online application by the stated deadline. Selected recipients must attend the May 10–13, 2026 program in Cincinnati to receive the $3,750 scholarship and agree to the one-year mentoring/contact commitment with TLF.
