SCAC Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by South Carolina Association of Counties
Overview
Each year the South Carolina Association of Counties (SCAC) awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors. For 2026, SCAC will present one Presidential Scholarship of $5,000 and multiple Board of Directors Scholarships of $5,000 each.
Presidential Scholarship (2026)
One $5,000 Presidential Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who lives in the same county as the sitting SCAC President. Because SCAC’s current President is Chesterfield County Council Chairwoman Mary D. Anderson, the 2026 Presidential Scholarship will be designated for a resident of Chesterfield County.
Board of Directors Scholarships (2026)
The Board of Directors Scholarship program distributes $5,000 awards on a rotating four-year cycle so that, over time, one graduating senior from each of South Carolina’s 46 counties receives an award. In 2026, twelve $5,000 Board of Directors Scholarships will be granted. Recipients will be chosen from the following counties: Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Colleton, Darlington, Dorchester, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Jasper, Marlboro, and McCormick.
Deadline
All completed applications and required supporting documents must be submitted by February 1, 2026, at 11:59 a.m.
Eligibility
To qualify for the 2026 Presidential Scholarship or any of the 2026 Board of Directors Scholarships, applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior who meets the county residency requirement for the specific scholarship (the Presidential Scholarship requires Chesterfield County residency; each Board of Directors Scholarship requires residency in one of the counties listed above).
- Plan to enroll as a freshman in the fall 2026 semester at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in South Carolina (in-state institution).
If you have questions about residency requirements or which scholarship to apply for, contact SCAC for guidance.
