We comprehend the profound impact domestic violence can have on victims and the immense challenges they face in escaping such situations, seeking help, and ensuring their own and their children's needs are met while safeguarding against further abuse or harassment. As such, we strive to create opportunities for individuals who have been touched by domestic violence or who are committed to mitigating its effects on American families.
Through the John T. Fields & Associates, LLC Fight Against Domestic Violence Scholarship, we extend financial support to college students, aiding them in realizing their ambitions and contributing positively to society. Each academic semester, we award a $2,000 scholarship to a college student who has either been personally affected by domestic violence or has a significant interest in devising solutions to these problems and safeguarding others from domestic abuse, harassment, and other types of family violence.
Who Can Apply for the Scholarship?
The Fight Against Domestic Violence Scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
- The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- The applicant must be enrolled in or accepted into an undergraduate or graduate program at a U.S. college or university.
- The applicant must have been affected by domestic violence, either personally or through a family member, or have a significant interest in devising strategies to prevent domestic violence in the United States.
What Does the Application Process Involve?
Students interested in the Fight Against Domestic Violence Scholarship can apply by filling out the form at the bottom of this page. The application must include the student's contact information and proof of enrollment. Acceptable proof of enrollment includes an acceptance letter, academic transcript, class schedule, or other official documents from a college or university.
Additionally, applicants must submit an essay of up to 1,000 words addressing the following questions:
What is the current impact of domestic violence on individuals in the United States? How grave is this issue? What measures can be implemented to address these issues and decrease the number of people affected by domestic abuse?
How Are Applications Evaluated?
The scholarship committee at John T. Fields & Associates, LLC will review all applications to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements. In assessing the essays, we will take into account the following:
- The extent to which the essay addresses the questions.
- The essay's demonstration of an understanding of the significance of tackling the issue of domestic violence.
- The clarity, organization, and overall quality of the essay.
