AWS Welder Training Scholarship

The AWS Welder Training Scholarship is designed for students who are pursuing a welder training certificate program that lasts less than two years. This program can be undertaken at a trade school, community college, or any other institution that offers welder training. However, the scholarship cannot be applied towards an associate or bachelor's degree program.
Each year, between 800 and 1,000 Welder Training Scholarships, each worth $1,000, will be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
Students who plan to attend school or undergo training in the coming year are eligible to apply in the current application cycle.
- Applicants must live within an AWS District. The AWS District and Section Map can be viewed here.
- Applicants must have plans to enroll in a trade school, community college, or other institution that offers welder training.
- Section officers and their families are not eligible for these awards.
- Members of the Section Selection Committee and their families are also not eligible for these awards.
Selection Procedure
Applications can be submitted from December to November and will be considered on a rolling basis until the District has awarded all the funds allocated for the year. Applications received before November 30th will be considered for any remaining funds for that calendar year.
Awards
The minimum amount for District Scholarships is $1,000. The recipient will not receive the award directly. AWS Scholarships can be used to cover tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment necessary for the course. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution.
The scholarship must be redeemed within one year from the date it was awarded.
The deadline for the Welder Training Scholarship, which is for students seeking welder training in a certificate program that lasts less than two years, is November 30th.

The application process consists of four steps:

Step 2: Develop an Academic Profile, which should include your personal statement and career goals.
Step 3: Determine which scholarships you qualify for based on your academic profile and geographic location, and then apply.
