National Horticulture Foundation Scholarship Programs have been established to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to pursue their career path in horticulture or related fields.

Partnering with Arborjet | Ecologel, the new Taking Root Scholarship is open to students enrolled in accredited arboriculture or horticulture programs.  Applicants should have a desire to pursue a career in arboriculture or plant health care, with a passion to study science and technology to advance the industry. Ideal candidates should demonstrate prior community engagement and a curiosity to explore plant healthcare needs. This includes but is not limited to the study of plant pathology, entomology, or chemistry related to invasive insect & disease management, arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

Eligibility

The following criteria are required:

  • Applicant(s) must be an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior, senior planning to attend a community college, college, university. The student must enroll full-time in an arboriculture or horticulture program or related field with the intent to graduate in that field. A 2.0 (C) or above grade point average is required of the applicant. Award recipients are eligible to reapply for scholarship annually.
  • Applicants should have a desire to pursue a career in arboriculture or plant health care, with a passion to study science and technology to advance the industry.
  • Ideal candidates should demonstrate prior community engagement and a curiosity to explore plant health care needs. This includes but is not limited to the study of plant pathology, entomology, or chemistry related to invasive insect & disease management, arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

Scholarship Awards

Students must return all of the following to the National Horticulture Foundation by the required deadline of January 15th annually. (Recipients will be notified in April annually of their award amount.)
