AIAA Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
In 2022, the AIAA Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson Scholarship was established with the aim of inspiring young women to delve into the field of aerospace engineering and build a career in the aerospace defense sector. The scholarship is a tribute to Marillyn Hewson, who served as the chairman, president, and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation. Hewson began her journey with Lockheed Martin in 1983 as an industrial engineer and climbed the corporate ladder to hold various leadership roles, including president and COO, executive VP of Lockheed Martin’s Electronic Systems business area, president of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, and executive VP of Global Sustainment for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
Thanks to generous contributions from the Hewson Family Foundation and Lockheed Martin, the scholarship provides a $10,000 award to a female high school senior and a $10,000 award to a female university student. Both recipients must be planning to or already studying engineering at a college or university in the United States or its territories.
The AIAA will grant a $10,000 scholarship to a female high school senior who plans to major in engineering at a U.S. college or university.
