Roger W. Kahn Scholarship

The Roger W. Kahn Scholarship was established in tribute to Roger Kahn (1907–1962), a man known for his love for both aviation and the arts. Kahn dedicated the latter part of his professional life to Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, where he served as a test pilot before overseeing the technical service and sales department. In the 1940s, Kahn played a significant role in the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences (a precursor to AIAA), eventually becoming its vice president. Kahn's talents extended beyond aviation; he was a skilled jazz musician from the 1920s, composing music for stage shows and early films, leading various orchestras, and recording for pioneering record labels such as Victor, Brunswick, and Columbia.
AIAA is offering up to four scholarships, each worth $10,000, to high school seniors who plan to major in engineering at a college or university!

Qualification Criteria
- Applicants must be current high school seniors planning to major in aerospace or a related field at a college or university (proof of enrollment is required to receive the scholarship funds)
- Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5
- Applicants must show a demonstrated interest in aerospace through extracurricular activities
- Applicants must have a free AIAA High School Membership
- Students from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply
Required Application Materials
- Transcript showing high school unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale
- A one-page statement detailing STEM-related studies and/or extracurricular activities
- A letter of recommendation from a STEM educator or mentor
