Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in collaboration with Liaison International, its partner in NursingCAS, has established a scholarship and leadership development program in tribute to AACN’s President and CEO, Dr. Deborah Trautman.
PROGRAM DETAILS
The program offers a $3,500 scholarship to graduate nursing students who are keen on pursuing leadership roles in academic nursing. The scholarship includes $2,000 for educational expenses and a unique opportunity to participate in a leadership development experience with Dr. Trautman at the AACN headquarters in Washington, DC. The remaining $1,500 of the scholarship will be allocated for travel expenses related to the leadership development program. Each year, two scholarships will be granted.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
The scholarship is available to:
- Students enrolled in master's and doctoral nursing programs at AACN member schools associated with NursingCAS.
- Students who have shown dedication to academic nursing.
- Students who are currently enrolled and maintaining good academic performance.
- Students who are part of AACN’s Graduate Nursing Student Academy (GNSA –membership is free).
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- An essay of 500 words or less detailing career accomplishments, ambition for a future leadership role in academia, and your vision for academic nursing.
- A CV or resume highlighting significant leadership and career development milestones (e.g., conference attendance, poster presentations, publications, etc.).
- Goals (3-4 points) outlining what you aim to accomplish during the leadership development experience with Dr. Trautman.
- Two recommendation letters, one of which must be from the dean or director of the nursing school.
- A signed statement of commitment to complete the leadership development aspect of the program. Failure to fulfill this requirement will result in the loss of the scholarship funding.
