Emery | Reddy, PLLC is dedicated to supporting and empowering workers, a commitment that extends beyond our work in Washington state L&I claims and labor law issues. We are thrilled to invest in the future workforce by providing annual scholarships to students seeking higher education. Each year, we distribute a total of $5,000 in scholarships as follows:

• A $2,000 scholarship to a chosen law school student
• Three $1,000 scholarships to selected undergraduate students from any university or college.

Guidelines and Rules for Scholarship Application

Before submitting your application, please familiarize yourself with the submission criteria below to ensure your eligibility and correct essay submission. Applications that fail to adhere to these guidelines will be disqualified.

General Eligibility

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in or recently accepted to an accredited U.S. law school (for the Legal Studies Scholarship) or an accredited U.S. college or university (for the Undergraduate Scholarship);
• Selected winners will be required to provide proof of residency and proof of enrollment or acceptance.

Application Prerequisites

Applicants are required to submit an original, engaging essay of 400 to 600 words in response to the essay prompt below. The Legal Studies Scholarship is exclusively for students currently enrolled in Law School. Please submit your essay for the category that aligns with your current enrollment status. Essays should adhere to a basic essay and paragraph structure, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. We encourage creativity! Please refrain from including any personal identifying information (PII) such as name, address, contact information, or resume within the essay.

Legal Studies Scholarship prompt: What inspired you to pursue a career in law? Are there any specific areas of law you are interested in, and what are your career goals as a lawyer?

General Scholarship prompt: What is your chosen field of study and why? How do you plan to use your education to benefit your community?

Selection and Recognition Process

Winners will be chosen by a panel of qualified members from Emery | Reddy, based on the applicant’s adherence to entry criteria and their ability to clearly and succinctly answer the essay prompt. The Legal Studies Scholarship and the General Studies Scholarship are one-time, monetary awards intended solely for academic tuition. Winners will be notified via email, and the award will be sent to the recipient’s educational institution once their enrollment has been confirmed. The winners will be publicly announced on our blog and social media pages following final verification.
