Academic Surgical Technology Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Foundation for Surgical Technology
Purpose
This scholarship exists to promote and reward academic achievement and to help meet demonstrated financial need for students pursuing a career in surgical technology.
Who May Apply (Eligibility)
- Must be enrolled in an accredited surgical technology program and eligible to sit for the NBSTSA national surgical technologist certification examination. Your application must include the ARC/STSA school code or documentation proving ABHES accreditation for your surgical technology program.
- Must show evidence of outstanding academic performance.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
Selection Criteria
- Recipients are chosen based on a combination of academic excellence and financial need.
- Awards are made using the information supplied on the application.
Application Deadline
- All applications must be received by March 1, 2026. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Application Checklist
- Complete every section of the application and answer all questions.
- Proofread your application carefully before submitting.
- Confirm that both letters of recommendation come from individuals listed as acceptable in the required online groups.
Award Details
- The Foundation for Surgical Technology Committee will determine award amounts based on merit and demonstrated financial need.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified by the end of May.
- Recipient names will be announced at the AST Conference and published in the AST Journal and on the Foundation website.
Funding and Membership Requirement
- Scholarship funding is provided entirely through contributions to the Foundation for Surgical Technology from AST, NBSTSA, individuals, AST state assemblies, corporations, and other supporters.
- Awardees must be members of AST before receiving the scholarship.
