Introduction
The Italian American Executives of Transportation Organization offers an annual college scholarship program for students of Italian American descent, whether wholly or partly Italian.
Who is eligible
- Must be a resident of Illinois.
- Must be a member of the high school graduating class of 2026.
- Must claim Italian American heritage (full or partial).
What the committee will evaluate
- A written essay about the role and importance of Italian Americans in the community, including the applicant’s current and/or anticipated contributions as an Italian American. Responses should be detailed and specific.
Required application materials
- High school transcript documenting scholastic accomplishments.
- Description of extracurricular involvement (sports, clubs, etc.).
- Record of community service, including the nature of the volunteer work and time commitments/frequency.
- Statement of financial need and disclosure of any additional scholarships already awarded.
- Letter(s) of recommendation from a former teacher.
- Recent head-and-shoulders photo in .jpg or .png format (maximum file size 2 MB).
- If applicable, any information explaining special needs or circumstances (learning or physical disabilities, or other unusual situations) that might warrant additional consideration.
Award conditions and expectations
- Recipients are required to attend the IAET Dinner Dance on November 14, 2026.
- During presentation, recipients must stand and observe the U.S. National Anthem (hand over heart, per protocol).
- Attire must be semi-formal; jeans and casual clothing are not permitted.
Failure to comply with these conditions will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
Timeline
- Applicants will be informed of award decisions in October 2026.
- Scholarships will be formally presented at the IAET Dinner Dance on November 14, 2026.
