Maryland State Golf Association Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Maryland State Golf Association
Overview
The Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) provides several scholarship opportunities. Detailed information for each award is available via the tabs below. All completed applications must be received no later than August 31, 2026.
Purpose
The MSGA Scholarship exists for charitable and educational purposes, specifically to fund educational scholarships for employees of MSGA member clubs/courses and their children, and for students who have completed their junior year of high school and have a bona fide connection to golf.
Who may apply (Eligibility)
- Employees (and/or their children) of MSGA member clubs/courses who have provided service for at least two (2) years.
- Students who have finished their junior year of high school and have a bona fide connection to golf.
All applicants will be judged by consistent, objective criteria. Every applicant must use the same application form and will be assessed under the same evaluation system. In addition, applicants must meet the minimum admission requirements of an accredited post‑secondary institution (college, university, junior college, or vocational school) and be reasonably expected to attend such an institution. Eligibility and selection will be made without regard to race, sex, religion, or national origin.
Selection and evaluation
Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the independent Scholarship Selection Committee appointed by the MSGA. The Committee is responsible for verifying each applicant’s eligibility and selecting finalists under the established objective standards and procedures.
Committee conflict-of-interest rule
If a member of the Scholarship Selection Committee has a relative who applies for the scholarship, that Committee member must recuse themselves from participation in the selection process for that year. The remaining Committee members will choose a replacement member by majority vote.
Award amounts and number of recipients
The number of scholarships and the amount awarded to each recipient will be established by the MSGA Scholarship Committee in consultation with the MSGA Board of Directors.
How the scholarship is publicized and how to apply
The MSGA will publicize the scholarship program at its annual meeting and on the MSGA website (www.msga.org). All publicity will clearly identify the MSGA as the scholarship grantor. Application forms are available from the MSGA and may be obtained at the Maryland State Golf Association office:
