To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants are required to submit relevant personal records as proof of the following criteria to the chairperson of the scholarship committee or their representative.
Criteria for Scholarship Eligibility
- Must be an individual suffering from hemophilia
- Must be a resident of New Mexico
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen who is eligible
Additional Requirements
- Must provide evidence of having applied for student aid (FASFA)
- Must demonstrate financial need, as shown by the FASFA form
- Must provide proof of having applied to two other sources of financial aid
- Must provide a copy of a high school diploma or GED
- Must provide proof of enrollment or acceptance for enrollment in an eligible program leading to a degree or certificate
- Must submit a completed scholarship application form to Sangre de Oro, Inc.
- Must submit a reference letter from a non-family member who knows you well
- Must undergo a personal interview with the scholarship committee or chairperson
Requirements for Scholarship Renewal
Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of a possible 4.0 to be considered for scholarship renewal. An official transcript showing final, current grades must be submitted when requesting a renewal. If your GPA falls below 2.5, you can reapply the following semester!
