John W. Youtsey Georgia Memorial Scholarship

Introduction
The first step in applying for the John W. Youtsey Memorial Scholarship is to complete a pre-qualification. The pre-qualification must be submitted by 5:00 PM on the stated deadline. Review the eligibility requirements online and submit the pre-qualification application there; qualified applicants will receive the full application by email.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a current Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) client diagnosed with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, or another inherited bleeding disorder.
- Live in the state of Georgia at the time of application and have been a Georgia resident for at least one year.
- Be enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited college, university, vocational, technical, or professional degree program.
Volunteer Commitment
Scholarship recipients agree to give back to the bleeding disorder community by completing at least 12 hours of volunteer service with Hemophilia of Georgia. Serving one week at Camp Wannaklot during the scholarship year will satisfy this volunteer requirement.
How Awards Are Determined
Scholarships are granted based on multiple considerations, including academic achievement, demonstrated financial need, and personal goals.

About John W. Youtsey
John W. Youtsey was a professor and Associate Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Georgia State University. From Hemophilia of Georgia’s founding in 1973 until his passing in 1996, he provided committed leadership, served on the Board of Directors, and chaired the Scholarship Committee.
Program Impact
Since its inception, the John W. Youtsey Memorial Scholarship Program has awarded in excess of 500 scholarships totaling more than $2,000,000.
