Restoration of Sight & Health Scholarship

Overview
Each year Dakota Lions Sight & Health awards six scholarships — three to students enrolled in institutions in South Dakota and three to students in North Dakota. Each recipient receives $1,500 to support their studies in areas related to sight or health, for a combined total of $6,000 in scholarship funding.

Who is eligible
Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education (university, college, technical school, or similar) at an institution located in South Dakota or North Dakota. Eligible fields of study are those that align with the mission of Dakota Lions Sight & Health — helping to enable the restoration of the gifts of sight & health. Examples include, but are not limited to, health professions, scientific research, social services, philanthropy, and nonprofit work.
Selection considerations
Final decisions may weigh several factors, including prior applications or awards, academic ability, demonstrated financial need, and community involvement. These criteria will be used to identify candidates whose studies and goals best reflect the organization’s mission.
Application timeline
- January 1 – April 30: Application window open
- May: Applications reviewed and recipients selected
- June: Scholarships announced and awarded
Award recipient visit
Scholarship winners will be invited to visit Dakota Lions Sight & Health headquarters in Sioux Falls to tour the facility, meet staff, and learn more about the organization’s work.
