Don and Roy Splawn Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Don and Roy Splawn Charitable Foundation West Scholarship Grant Program
Introduction
For more than 25 years the Don & Roy Splawn Charitable Foundation — West has made a measurable difference for students in California and beyond. Since our founding in 1997, we are proud to report that we have assisted over 1,500 California students with educational scholarships.
Who should apply
The Splawn Scholarship Grant Program supports financially disadvantaged students pursuing postsecondary education — whether in academic programs or vocational training. We prioritize candidates who have faced significant hardship in their lives; while academic performance is important, personal resilience and difficult life experiences are primary considerations in initial selection. Students who live independently or whose parent(s)/guardian(s) face financial hardship are especially encouraged to apply.
Award amounts and use of funds
Scholarships range from $250 up to $2,750 for eligible recipients. Awards may be applied toward most education-related costs.
Renewal and continuation
Recipients may reapply on an annual basis until they graduate. Continued funding is contingent on meeting the Foundation’s yearly review criteria and showing ongoing commitment to their education.
Character and community expectations
We seek applicants who demonstrate integrity, respect for the dignity of others, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to give back to their communities both during their studies and after graduation. The goal of an award is to help a student improve their prospects and, in turn, benefit their family and community.
